Arsenal have held initial talks with Inter Milan over midfielder Marcelo Brozovic, over a transfer to be made in January.

The Gunners have been monitoring the Croatia international since the start of the season, after manager Arsene Wenger told the clubs hierarchy to scout the former Dinamo Zagreb and Lokomotiva star.

Italian news organisation Tutto Mercato state that the North London based side have now kick started preliminary negotiations with the Italian giants over a switch.

However, Brozovic has also been attracting keen interest from fellow Premier League side Chelsea.

Inter boss Roberto Mancini is ready to let the midfielder leave the club in the January transfer window, as Brozovic has only made 13 appearances for the Serie A side this campaign.

Inter signed the 23-year-old for a fee in the region of £5million from Dinamo Zagreb in January on a loan deal until June 2017, but the starlet’s valuation has trebled since signing after putting in some impressive performances.

Discussions between Arsenal and Inter are still ongoing and a deal has yet to be agreed.
