Arsenal failed in their attempts to sign Juventus striker Simone Zaza on transfer deadline-day.
Sky Italia suggest that the Gunners had pursued the Italy international – and even opened up negotiations to try and bring him to North London before Tuesday’s 6pm deadline.
Negotiations opened up late yesterday, but Arsene Wenger’s side couldn’t reach his £22m buy-out clause.
However, Juventus were keen to hold onto the highly-rated Zaza, as the Turin outfit could not find a replacement for the window in continental Europe closed.

Aside from Arsenal’s public interest in the 24-year-old, their capital rivals, West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur were also keen.
