Former Arsenal star Gilberto Silva has reportedly been offered to return to The Emirates as part of the Gunners’ coaching staff.

The 38-year-old, who was an integral part of Arsenal’s unbeatean season back in 2003/04 is now without a club after departing Brazilian club Ateltico Mineiro, and is now looking at other options in his already illustrious career.

Gilberto Silva himself told South American newspaper Globo Esporte that he had received a formal offer from the Gunners. However, the midfielder who can also play in defence has revealed that he still wants to continue his footballing career as a player after he returns from his current injury, but admitted that he may be unable to attain his aspiration.

“Anything is possible,” he said. “It makes me happy when you have these offers, people see you have different ideas, you can contribute and it makes you happy and motivated.

“And it makes me want to learn from others, develop my knowledge and also develop my own style.”

“Anything is possible, I have not received any invitation here in Santa Catarina, I’ve had some offers to play again, but nothing here,” he said.

“The issue of rehabilitation is in the final stretch, but I’m open (to holding) a good conversation where everything can be solved.”
