Martinez’ agent has rubbished reports of a deal with AC Milan

Arsenal remain hopeful of capturing Jackson Martinez, after his agent dismissed reports he had chosen to sign for AC Milan.

It had been reported that the striker was to have a medical, before putting pen to paper on a deal with the Italian club.

But the player’s agent insists that “nothing has been decided” regarding the striker’s next move.

He also said that Martinez has had no contact with AC Milan.

Arsene Wenger is keen to add a top quality striker to his Arsenal squad, and has reportedly offered Martinez a lucrative contract to persuade him to sign.

Arsenal are set to bid £25 million for the 28 year old

Martinez is currently representing Colombia at the Copa America, and his agent says this is his client’s sole focus.

“Jackson didn’t say anything about Milan because there was no need to. Nothing has been decided yet,” agent Luiz Henrique Pompeo said.

“I am the only person who will speak about this during the tournament.

“Jackson is not just sitting around on his couch at home. He is concentrated on his work with Colombia in the Copa America.

“This is his absolute priority right now and I can say he is absolutely relaxed.”

Martinez is another big player set to leave Porto, who have sold Hulk, and Martinez’s Colombia team mates Radamel Falcao and James Rodriguez in recent years.
