Arsenal ram up interest in Mario Balotelli

Arsenal are set to increase their interest in AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli, as Arsene Wenger’s search for a new striker continues.

The Frenchman was widely criticised last season for not signing a star-striker in the Summer, and fans were left further frustrated in January when once again Wenger decided not to sign a striker to help out Olivier Giroud.

The Gunners solely relied on Giroud throughout the season as the only striker, and the club are calling out for a star striker, and it finally looks like this Summer will see the arrival of a star hitman, with Balotelli top of the list.

Currently in Brazil representing Italy, Balotelli hasn’t discussed his future, but according to some reports, Arsenal have sent officials out to Brazil to hold talks with the Italian and also his agent.

It’s reported the Premier League side are willing to spend ÂŁ25million on the 23-year-old, as they look to bring him back to England after his spell with Manchester City ended sourly.

AC Milan have told The Gunners that they are willing to do a deal with them as long as the price is right, as they want to get the striker off their wage-bill as they look set for a Summer of re-building, but Wenger will only go as high as ÂŁ25m for the 23-year-old.
