Pepe Reina will not return to Napoli next season, manager Rafael Benitez has confirmed.
Reina spent last season on loan at the Serie A club, and had previously said that he was open to the possibility of a permanent move to Naples.
However Benitez has quashed any rumours linking the 31 year old to Napoli, after stating, “We don’t seek a goalkeeper.”
Napoli have three senior keepers in their squad – Rafael Cabral, Mariano Andujar and Roberto Colombo.
Reina made 29 appearances for the Italian side, and has been told that he has no future at Anfield, and is set to leave Liverpool this summer.
Benitez added: “Rafael, with whom I keep in touch often to monitor his progress first hand, Andujar and Colombo are a sufficient guarantee for our goal.”
The Spanish keeper has been a target for Arsenal over recent weeks.
