Arsenal have been informed of promising signs in their quest to sign German midfielder Sami Khedira.
The strong central defensive midfielder, who is thought to be a perfect partner for Mesut Ozil, rejected a new contract offer from the La Liga side back in September.
And according to Spanish reports from El Confidencial a new offer was not made while he was injured in the lead up to the World Cup.
Real Madrid are now reportedly keen on signing Wolfsburg’s Luiz Gustavo as a replacement for Khedira, who is likely to leave the Bernabeu this summer.
Should the European Champions be keen to pursue the Brazilian holding midfielder, Khedira would be free to join the Gunners and would provide adequate services for a side which suffered many injury problems last season.
Despite these reports, any news regarding Khedira’s future will be announced after the World Cup, in which he helped Germany beat Algeria 2-0 last night.
