Arsenal had been heavily linked with Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin over the summer, with the Saints selling a number of key players to top four sides.
However new boss Ronald Koeman refused to let the Frenchman go as he was an integral part of the team.
But that hasn’t deterred Arsene Wenger from trying sign the French international once more, as he prepares a £15m bid for the re-opening of the transfer window.
Reports have still claimed however that the 25 year-old is looking to see the season out with the Saints, who are currently performing well above their expectations and sit third in the table.
Ronald Koeman has spoken about the interest, saying: “Keeping Morgan here will not be easy. We will have to see what happens.”
And the player himself admitted last month: “A career passes quickly and I want to play for a big club. Today I am at Southampton, it’s going well.
“We’ll see at the end of the season if [a transfer] will happen. If we have qualified for the Champions League, I will make the choice.”
