Arsene Wenger finally ready to land his man
Arsenal will launch a formal bid for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema this week, according to reports.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has been a long-term admirer of the Frenchman and is desperate to add him to his squad ahead of a potential title challenge this season.
Wenger and Arsenal have already been dealt a setback in their quest for a Premier League title following their opening day defeat to London rivals West Ham United at the Emirates Stadium, but the manager is ready to boost morale around the club by launching a formal bid for Benzema.
Arsenal’s Quest for a Striker
Fans of Arsenal have been crying out for a world-class striker over the past few seasons, which lead the club to chasing Gonzalo Higuain and Luis Suarez, but they fell short on both occasions.
However, Wenger and officials at the club are confident they can land Benzema this summer with Real Madrid tempted to sell in order to raise funds for the David De Gea deal.
According to reports, Arsenal may make their first official bid for the 27-year-old this week, with some claiming the club will offer around £45million.
Arsenal currently have Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck as their recognised strikers, with Theo Walcott a potential option as well, but Wenger is ready to add more firepower to his team in order to challenge the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City.
Wenger is prepared to break the club’s transfer record which is currently £42m.
