Arsenal to offer midfielder new contract

Arsenal Football Club are set to offer midfielder Tomas Rosicky a contract extension at the club in order to fend off some interest shown from the MLS.

The 33-year-old’s current deal is set to expire this Summer, but due to injuries picked up by Mesut Ozil, Aaron Ramsey and Santi Cazorla, the Czech has been playing frequently this season and has been in fine form, and was at it again last weekend during their 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup.

It is believed that Arsenal will offer Rosicky a one-year extension and manager Arsene Wenger is desperate to keep hold of the midfield-maestro.

‘He will stay here,’ said Wenger.

‘He is a marvellous player – an Arsenal player.

Rosicky has made it clear that his intentions are to stay at the Emirates Stadium, but several clubs abroad have offered him lucrative deals to join them in the Summer.
