Arsene Wenger ready to splash £47million on the Uruguayan
Arsenal could be set to renew their interest in Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani, according to reports.
The Gunners have been long-term admirers of the Uruguayan international, even back in his Napoli days before he completed a mega-money transfer to PSG.
However, since joining the Ligue 1 outfit, Cavani has had a mixed time, with ongoing issues with Laurent Blanc over his best position in the team.
During his first-year, Cavani was heavily deployed as a winger in order to make room for star-striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The former-Napoli star didn’t appreciate being played out of position and was heavily linked with a move away from the club over the summer.
No proposed move formalised and he stayed put in France, which resulted in Blanc playing him in a more central position.
Arsenal Interest
Despite the position change, Cavani is still thought to be wanting out of France, and Arsenal could be his next destination with the Gunners prepared to spend just shy of £50million on him.
According to reports, Arsene Wenger has set aside £47m for the striker and could launch a formal bid in January in order to help push Arsenal to the Premier League title.
