Arsenal to wrap up £12m deal after World Cup

Arsenal will complete their first Summer signing once the World Cup ends as they look set to wrap up a deal for Newcastle United’s Mathieu Debuchy.

The Gunners are on the look-out for a new right-back after it was confirmed that Bacary Sagna was to leave the club and join Manchester City on a free transfer once his contract expired, and despite strong reports suggesting Serge Aurier was to be the replacement, it’s now Sagna’s countryman that could take his spot.

It’s believed a £12million fee has been agreed between the two clubs, and Debuchy will complete the move once he returns from Brazil.

The French defender told the press before heading to the World Cup that he wants to play in the Champions League next season, and it was French side Paris Saint-Germain that were heavy favourites for his signature, but it looks like Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal have won the race.
