Arsenal have officially opened the bidding war for FC Barcelona winger Alexis Sanchez, by offering the Spanish club £19.4million for the Chilean.
It’s strongly reported that Barca are looking to sell the 25-year-old in order to free up some wage space in order to complete the signing of controversial figure Luis Suarez from Liverpool, and Sanchez is the likely man to leave the club, despite an impressive season and World Cup.
Catalan officials made it clear that the winger was for sale at the right price, and reports suggest that his favoured move would be to Arsenal, rather than Liverpool, and a formal offer of just under £20m has reportedly been tabled by The Gunners.
Arsene Wenger is hopeful he can get the deal done quickly and also cheaper, due to Barca owing the North London club money due to the sale of Cesc Fabregas to Chelsea.
£19.4m is roughly 25m euros, which is just short of what they paid to sign Sanchez, but due to their willingness to sell, a deal could be agreed shortly after the World Cup.
