Gunners decide tot to sign Asier Illarramendi, despite tracking him all summer

Arsenal have decided against the signing of Real Madrid midfielder Asier Illarramend, according to reports in Spain.

The 25-year-old is free to leave Madrid this summer – after Los Blancos signed Inter Milan’s Mateo Kovacic for £25m on Thursday.

Spainish international, Illarramendi found himself frozen out of Real’s plans last season, as former manager Carlo Ancelotti went for a different approach to his squad.

REAL MADRID OFFERED THE PLAYER TO ARSENAL

Goal.com claim that Madrid officials offered Illarramendi to Arsenal in this transfer window, only for the Gunners to turn down any opportunity.

He joined from fellow La Liga side Real Sociedad for £23m in 2013 – with Madrid set to wield the axe on his time at the Bernabeu, as Italian Champions Juventus mull over a potential deal to take him to Turin.
