Arsene Wenger admits to liking Juan Mata

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that he is interested in signing Chelsea’s midfielder Juan Mata and has admitted that he is a big fan of the Spaniard.

Wenger tried to sign Mata two season’s ago, but unfortunately lost out on his signature to Chelsea and since signing for The Blues, he has become one of the best midfielder’s in the Premier League.

However, since Jose Mourinho has returned to The Bridge, it seems that Mata’s first-team place is surprisingly in doubt and he could even be on his way out of the club come deadline day.

To add further fuel to the fire, Mata’s agent, who is also his father, was seen in the director’s box at the Emirates Stadium last night to see Arsenal play Fenerbache and as Wenger’s side picked up a 2-0 win, it means they will be in the Champions League proper for yet another season. Something that will tempt Mata.

After the game Wenger admitted to liking the Spaniard, but insists that nothing has happened yet.

“I like him,” said Wenger, who was beaten to the former Valencia player’s signature by Chelsea two years ago.

“I watched the game last night and I’ve heard, like you, Juan Mata could be on the market.

“There is anyway in England a reluctance to sell to each other.”
