Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is ‘desperate’ to sign Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus this Summer, despite his knee injury keeping him out until September.

The German international has been strongly linked with a move away from the Bundesliga, and after he rejected a contract extension from Dortmund, rumours started hotting up about where his next destination could be, with Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal all interested.

However, according to reports, it is Arsenal that are in pole position to sign the 25-year-old and with Reus’ release clause revealed at only ÂŁ19.8million, a potential deal could take place this Summer with Wenger desperate to wrap it up as quickly as possible.

It’s been suggested that Arsenal are willing to meet the release clause, and they also have no problems matching Reus’ wage-demands, and Wenger is keen to fend off interest from others in order to land the German.

It was reported earlier this Summer that The Gunners had already had a deal agreed with Dortmund for Reus, but the transfer broke down after the midfielder suffered a nasty knee injury just days before the World Cup.
