Chilean could miss start of next season

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has fears that Alexis Sanchez will miss the start of the new season due to international duty with Chile for the Copa America.

The Chilean FA confirmed that the Arsenal forward will be in the squad for the Summer tournament, and if they progress to the latter stages of the competition as expected, Wenger fears Alexis will have to miss some of the new Premier League season.

Copa America

The Summer competition kicks off on June 11 and ends July 4, and with the 2015/2016 campaign starting earlier than ever this season on August 8, it would give Alexis just four weeks to have a break and then return to full training.

Alexis is known as an energetic player who never wants to stop playing, so his enthusiasm and work-rate could get him fit and ready back in time for the new campaign, but Wenger has admitted that he has his concerns.

Wenger Concerns

Wenger said: “That’s not good news because they finish very late and if they go very far he will miss the start of the season.”

Impressive Debut Season

Alexis has been superb in his debut season at the Emirates Stadium and was the driving force behind the club during the early stages of this season.
