Arsenal and Liverpool had a thrilling open attacking match which ended in a 3-3 draw but Liverpool will feel most frustrated after squandering chances in the first half.

Liverpool were 1-0 up at half-time but it should have been 3-0 to the Reds after squandering many chances to score.

And Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed what he said to his players at half-time to inspire his team to come back and draw 3-3.

Alexis Sanchez, Granit Xhaka and Mesut Ozil all score in the space of five minutes to inspire a great come back for the Gunners after being 2-0 down to make it 3-3 to the Gunners. But after leading, Liverpool managed a come back of their own with Firmino scoring in the 71st minute to make it 3-3.

Wenger said at half-time: “I told the players the good thing is we are only 1-0 down, we had a great opportunity to create a different phase,’ Wenger told Sky Sports after the game. ‘What we did was not good enough, we had nothing to lose, we wanted to go for it.’

Wenger was critical of his side however after the disastrous first-half.

“I felt in the first half we were paralysed and frozen. We played too deep. We gave the ball away to often and looked second best.

“But it was down to the psychological factor and the bearing of the [Manchester] United game was there. ‘But at half-time we were only 1-0 down, it could have been game over. We showed quality and character in the second half. We played inhibited in the first half.”
