Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted that his main aim for the club now is to just make the fans happy and make sure that they still want him at the club.

The Frenchman turned 64 yesterday and unfortunately for him, ended his special day with a loss to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League, but he has insisted that he will remain at the club for as long as the fans want him there.

The longest-serving manager in England has come under a lot of pressure recently due to Arsenal’s trophy drought, but after signing Mesut Ozil for £43million on transfer deadline day, a lot of fans were back on his side.

Speaking in an exclusive interview, Wenger admitted that his main aim is to just make the fans happy.

“I want to feel I can do well for this club,” he said. “It’s not a question of my loyalty. It’s as simple as that.

“I want to make our fans happy but, as well, people who love football… it is as simple as that. In a world where you are spoiled for choice, it is important that when you wake up you think, ‘Oh, Arsenal play today!’

“That you have a hope to see something that is good, a moment where you are happy in your life. That’s all. It is not more complicated than that.”
