French side AS Monaco are preparing to make a £17million bid for Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany once the New Year arrives, according to reports.
Monaco are the new powerhouse team in European football after their takeover in the Summer, and after capturing the likes of Radamel Falcao, James Rodriguez and João Moutinho, they are ready to spend big again in order to strengthen their back-line.
They are already close to securing Manchester United’s Patrice Evra and apparently Real Madrid’s winger Angel Di Maria, but their attentions have now turned to Premier League star, Kompany.
According to reports in France, Monaco have already contacted Kompany’s agent to hold talks over a move, but it is believed that City will not let their captain leave no matter what the offer is.
