AS Roma chief confirms no Destro sale

AS Roma chief, Walter Sabatini, has confirmed that the club have no intentions of selling a ‘top-player’ like Mattia Destro to either Arsenal or Chelsea.

The 23-year-old striker has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League, with both English sides interested in him over the Summer, but Sabatini has confirmed that not even a ÂŁ20million bid would be accepted by the Serie A side.

The Italian international has scored four times so far this season and even admitted last week that being linked to the Premier League giants is ‘flattering’, but it appears a potential move to England is off the cards.

“We’re happy with the roster we have, but we’re always monitoring,” Sabatini told Italian TV programme Il Processo del Lunedi.

“Destro is off the market as far as we are concerned, we consider him a top player and therefore he won’t leave.”
