Chelsea are to do whatever it takes to extend midfielder Nemanja Matic’s contract at Stamford Bridge.
The powerhouse player has been ever-present in boss Jose Mourinho’s side this year, and has become a vital part to the team alongside summer signing Cesc Fabregas.
Eventhough Matic currently has four years remaining on his current Chelsea contract, the Blues are very keen to offer the player a huge wage in order to see-off interest from other top European clubs.
It is understood that Real Madrid are holding a firm interest in the holding midfielder, who has scored three goals this season in the Premier League.
However, Mourinho believes that the player’s future will be at the club and was highly praising Matic before Chelsea’s 2-1 win over Liverpool.
He said: “At this moment, he’s a giant.”
“Not for his size but for the way he plays. The man is a giant.”
