Chelsea captain Gary Cahill has been linked with a move to Aston Villa. The English international hasn’t played a single minute in the top flight so far.

Following the emergence of David Luiz, The 32 year old has fallen in the pecking order under new manager Maurizio Sarri. The former Napoli manager has his distinctive style of playing football and earlier has admitted it could take a bit time for a defender to adjust to his style.

Cahill has been handed the armband but Sarri is contemplating to pass it to a player who has been more influential under his guidance. Cahill had a brief stint at the Villa Park and could follow the footsteps of former Chelsea captain John Terry who had a small but productive spell in the Midlands.

Villa gaffer Steve Bruce is planning to bring in a number of players to his squad and Cahill could be a brilliant addition. The English international could be a perfect partner for James Chester who has been a constant fixture in the Villa lineup.

Bruce has used both Mile Jedinak and Tommy Elphick as Chester’s defensive partner but is looking for someone more experienced and Cahill fits the bill perfectly.
