Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has said that Atletico Madrid’s CEO Gil Marin has confirmed where Antoine Griezmann will be heading in the summer. Marin has said that Griezmann will play at Barcelona next season.
Romano wrote on Instagram about Marin’s conversion with SPORT. Marin said, “We know since last March that Griezmann is going to Barcelona”.
Antoine Griezmann was strongly linked to Barcelona since last year. There were several reports claiming that he would sign for Barcelona last summer. However, Griezmann said through a documentary that he will stay at Atletico Madrid.
A few weeks back, Griezmann announced that he will leave Atletico Madrid at the end of this season but did not say anything about his next destination. Even following France’s Euro qualifier win over Andorra, Griezmann declined to speak about his destination. Griezmann even went to say that he was doubtful if he will stay at La Liga. There were also reports of Griezman joining Manchester United. However, now it seems that the Frenchman will join Barcelona.
Provided Barcelona do sign Griezmann, it will be a huge addition for them. With Griezmann in a squad comprising the likes of Messi, Suarez, Coutinho, Dembele, Rakitic, Ter Stegen, just to name a few, Barcelona will have a very good chance of lifting the Champions League.
