Spanish champions, Atletico Madrid, will make January moves for either Arsenal striker, Lukas Podolski, or Chelsea front-man, Fernando Torres.
The La Liga champions are heavily relying on Mario Mandzukic to score their goals for them this season after selling Diego Costa to Chelsea, but Diego Simeone is keen to sign a back-up striker in order to take the work-load off the Croatian.
With the January transfer window opening next month, the Argentine is keen to bring in a forward in order to help Mandzukic, and according to reports, the Champions League finalists are keen on Podolski from Arsenal, and Torres from Chelsea.
It’s believed Podolski is the likely target due to his lack of game-time at the Emirates Stadium, and also due to Torres currently being out on loan in Italy with AC Milan.
However, as reported yesterday, Torres is close to having his loan-deal terminated by Milan, and could be forced to return to England in the New Year, cutting short his two-year loan deal.
If that were to happen, Simeone would launch a bid to bring the Spaniard back to Atletico, where he made his name before joining Liverpool.
