Atletico Madrid ready to hijack move for Origi

Atletico Madrid are ready to hijack Liverpool’s move to bring Belgian striker Divock Origi to Merseyside.

Brendan Rodgers appeared to have a deal for the Lille striker all wrapped up earlier this week, however that could now be under threat after the players father stated that there is interest from other clubs.

Having lost David Villa and Diego Costa this summer already, Atletico are in desperate need of strikers, and Spanish media are this morning claiming that Diego Simeone is ready to launch a late bid for Origi. He has already bought Croatian Mario Mandzukic from Bayern Munich, and wants Origi to line-up with him next season.

Liverpool thought the deal was done when Origi flew out to America to join the Reds on their pre-season tour. Howevere, the late interest from Atletico has sparked fears for Rodgers that last season’s Champions League runners up could snatch him from under their noses.
