Everton are set to finally complete the loan signing of Chelsea winger Christian Atsu, manager Roberto Martinez has confirmed.

The Toffees have now agreed a deal for the highly rated Ghana international, with a season loang loan set to be settled after a work permit hearing.

22 year old Atsu has been linked with a move to Everton all summer, and is unlikely to feature for the club this weekend, as the Merseyside club kick-off their Premier League season with a trip to newly promoted Leicester City.

‘Everything has been agreed with Christian. It’s just a matter of finalising little details more with his work permit and personal situation,’ confirmed Martinez. ‘That will probably take a couple of days to get sorted but we have an agreement in principle to make the move as a loan deal until the end of the season.’

Atsu was signed by Jose Mourinho last September, before being immediately loaned out to Dutch Eredivisie side Vitesse, where he scored five goals in 28 League appearances.
