Spaniard to snub La Liga interest

The Chelsea defender is adamant he will remain at the club despite interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona.

The Spaniard has been a vital player in Jose Mourinho‘s title winning side, shifting to the left-back position he has become a regular and made Ashley Cole surplus to requirements in the process.

Reports earlier in the year have already linked him with a move back to Spain after enjoying an impressive spell of form with the Blues, now ending the season with the Capital One Cup and Premier League double.

Azpilicueta Speaks Out

However despite the temptation to join one of Spain’s elite, Azpilicueta says playing alongside Eden Hazard is one of the main reasons to stay put.

He told RMC: “I do not think about anything other than staying at Chelsea. I do not think about Spain. I’m in the best team in England, I do not think to play elsewhere.

“We have at Chelsea perhaps one of the future top players of the world [in Eden Hazard]. This year he had a great season; he deserved to be the best player in the Premier League.

“There has been much criticism but we scored a lot of goals, we are the [second-best] attack of the championship. That means we have an offensive game but sometimes you have to know when to defend.”
