Latest reports confirm that Barcelona has banned Ousmane Dembele from switching off his cellphone.

The 21-year-old has faced a serious share of consequences due to his off-pitch behaviour. The Catalan giants fined him heavily for arriving late for training more than once and have taken a stricter stance.

Just last week Dembele was penalised with a ÂŁ90,000 bill for turning up two hours late to training. He had previously been late to official games as well.

The Barca authority are determined to address the player’s personal discipline with late night gaming and binge-watching sessions. Missing club duties for instances of oversleeping will no longer be tolerated by the club and has been strongly conveyed towards Dembele’s camp.

Otherwise, the Frenchman has been at outstanding on the pitch this season, scoring a brilliant solo goal against Tottenham Hotspur in the midweek Champions League game. He has extended his goal tally to 9 in 20 games this season while also contributing 5 assists.

Barcelona paid a record sum to get him from Borussia Dortmund, to serve as a replacement for Neymar. Dembele has taken a fair bit of time to adjust to the quality of La Liga, mostly due to injury troubles but is certainly proving his worth on the pitch.

A simple ban might be enough to keep the youngster in the right trajectory in fulfilling his potential.
