La Liga giants Barcelona have made a £10 million bid for want-away Arsenal centre-back Thomas Vermaelen.
Vermaelen’s future has been speculated throughout the summer, after falling behind the likes of Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny at the heart of the Gunners’ defence.
But now it looks likely that the Belgians future will be in Spain, as Barcelona move ahead of Manchester United by making a firm offer of £10m for the player’s services.
The Spanish giants are looking to replace retired Carlos Puyol and it appears as Vermaelen has been chosen as the perfect candidate.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger admitted last week that player could fall short of his plans next season and could not guarantee that the player will stay.
Vermaelen himself is keen to move on and a deal will be finalised in the coming days.
