Barcelona hatch cunning plan to steal Tottenham star Toby Alderweireld for £35million.
FC Barcelona are reportedly hatching a plan to sign Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld for £35million.
The Catalan giants are expected to strengthen their squad at the end of the season and defensive cover is high on their priority list. The La Liga leaders have heard that Tottenham are keeping tabs on Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Jonathan Tah ahead of potential summer switch. The 22-year-old has impressed for the Bundesliga outfit and wants to move on to a Champions League side and that would mean that Alderweireld could become available to move to the Nou Camp, according to Spanish reports.
The Catalan giants reportedly have one condition which is that the Belgian defender must agree to a deal at the end of the season.
Spurs would accept £35m for Alderweireld, which is similar to the amount they would spend on Tah.
However, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is known to be a tough negotiator and could stand firm until a higher offer is made. Spurs will also be hoping to keep hold of striker Harry Kane, who is wanted by Barca’s fierce rivals Real Madrid.
Spurs will preparing to head into a tricky transfer window where they will battle to keep their best stars.
