Blue already have rejected the Spanish side once

Despite winning the league and cup double last season, Barcelona have concerns that their squad still lacks greater quality in depth and attacking flair. They are looking for a playmaker who can add an extra dimension to their attack following the departure of Andres Iniesta.

The Spanish Side has been heavily linked with a move for Chelsea star Willian in the recent weeks. He is also keen to leave the club after not getting regular football last season and admitted to finding life on bench difficult.

Barca boss Ernesto Valverde wants to bring in more depth to his attack and he is a preferred option due to a desire to link him up with team-mate Philippe Coutinho.

The Brazil International joined the Blues from Anzhi Makhachkala for a reported fee of £30 million in 2013. He has been one of the most constant players for them in the last three years, scoring 44 goals in 236 for the club since joining them.

The Brazilian was a crucial player for them in both their Premier League winning campaign, 2014/2015 and 2016/2017. He was their stand out player in the 2015/2016 campaign, when the club under performed and finished outside the top 4.

He may not dazzle as much as his more fanciful teammates at club or national team level likes of Eden Hazard and Neymar, but rare is the game where he doesn’t display obvious effort, determination, and commitment to the cause.

But the 29 year old was used sparingly last season by Antonio Conte and mostly came on as a substitute. Though the campaign was his best ever tally with 13 goals and 12 assists in 55 appearances and and was one of the standout players, as the club finished 5th in the Premier League.

Barcelona are preparing a new bid for Willian after having a €57 million offer rebuffed, reports the Daily Mail .
