Chelsea and Manchester United will be unhappy with the news that Bayern Munich have joined the race for highly-rated centre back Raphael Varane.
Both Premier League clubs have been keeping tabs on Varane whom Jose Mourinho described as the “best young defender in Europe.” However reports have suggested that Pep Guardiola has instructed Jorge Mendes to commence negotiations for the 21-year old France international/
Manchester United have obvious defensive vulnerabilities, and after the first half of the season, Chelsea are rumoured to be scouting for replacements for stalwart Gary Cahill having been less than impressed with the start of his campaign.
£20m has been touted as the fee to prise Varane from the Bernabeu, which would not be a problem for any of the clubs involved in the pursuit.
All that remains is for Varane to decide if he wants to move and where.
