Manchester City are considering handing a new contract to Bernardo Silva.

Silva has been central to Pep Guardiola’s plans so far and would be instrumental if City are to defend their Premier League crown. The Portuguese international is being seen as the natural replacement of the ageing David Silva.

Bernardo has had an outstanding season so far leading City’s attacking contingents as the Sky blues are competing on four fronts. Five goals and seven assists in the top flight may not seem to be an extraordinary feat but his contribution to his side has been immesnse.

Silva’s form has alerted the likes of Real Madrid who are monitoring the player. Silva currently pockets around £100,000 per week and the club is planning to double his wage in the new deal.

A new six year deal could be in the offing for the player who cost the club a whopping £43m when he arrived from Monaco. The 24 year old took his time initially to settle in and since then has become an inevitable part of the setup.

The player himself is very keen to extend his association. “We are stronger. We have kept the same players but added Riyad Mahrezwhile Phil Foden has improved.

“We have a real taste to win more trophies. It is always good to win something this early in the season.

“You can see the confidence it gives the team and the mood it has created.”
