Manager will leave after the Euros
Antonio Conte will be leaving his role as Italy head-coach after the European Championships.
The Italian has been heavily tipped to take over from Guus Hiddink at Stamford Bridge once the Dutchman leaves at the end of the season, and the deal has taken a massive step forward today.
Conte will guide Italy throughout the European Championships, but will then leave his post in order to join Chelsea it is believed.
The Italian federation has confirmed the news in a statement.
Statement
Carlo Tavecchio, the president, has said:Â “He feels the lure of the field and the daily work.
“Antonio Conte told me that at the end of the European Championship will end his experience.
“He feels the lure of the field, the training everyday and this is understandable.”
It’s believed Chelsea could announce Conte any day now following this news.
