Defender has called time on his career

Nemanja Vidic has announced his retirement from football.

The 34-year-old defender ended his career in Italy with Serie A side Inter Milan, but following his release from the San Siro, he has decided to call a time on his career.

Vidic started his senior career with Red Star Belgrade back in 2000, before completing a move to Spartak Moscow in 2004.

After two years with Moscow, he then completed his move to Manchester United, where he went on to spend eight successful years before moving to Inter in 2014.

Throughout his career, Vidic has won numerous titles, including five Premier Leagues, three Capital One Cups and one Champions League.

Statement

Speaking to Manchester United‘s official website, Vidic said: “The time has come for me to hang up my boots. The injuries I have had in the last few years have taken their toll.

“I would like to thank all the players I have played with, all the managers and staff I have worked with, and say a big ‘thank you’ to the fans for their support over the years.”
