Magpies bounce straight back up
Newcastle United have been promoted back to the Premier League this evening after beating Preston North End 4-1 at St James’ Park.
Two goals from Ayoze Perez, along with a penalty from Matt Richie and a smart finish from Christian Atsu, propelled the Magpies towards a comfortable evening.
They become just the second team in the last 2 years to bounce straight back to the Premier League automatically just a year after getting relegated.
With two games to play Newcastle cannot be caught by the chasing pack and could still finish the season as champions if Chris Hughton’s Brighton and Hove Albion side falter in the final stages of the season.
