Chelsea goalkeeper to have medical at Arsenal
Petr Cech will undergo a medical at Arsenal today ahead of his proposed £10.9million move from Chelsea.
The goalkeeper is expected to formally join The Gunners over the weekend, after a fee between the two club was agreed and personal terms were agreed between the veteran and the North London outfit.
Interest in Cech
Arsenal have been interested in Cech for a while now, but after Thibaut Courtois took his spot at Stamford Bridge as the club’s number-one, reports heated up about a possible London switch.
Manchester United, Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain were all said to be interested in the 33-year-old, but he was adamant that he wanted to stay in London for personal reasons.
The ‘keeper was against relocating his settled family and told Chelsea that he wants to leave and wants to join Arsenal.
Mourinho Caves
At first, Jose Mourinho was blocking the move as he didn’t want to strengthen a rival, but in the end, Roman Abramovich took over and allowed the deal to go through as a thank you to Cech for his loyal services throughout the years.
Cech has won virtually everything you can during a club career, and his move to Arsenal will certainly push Arsene Wenger‘s side a lot closer to their fierce-rivals in the title-race next season.
The Czech Republican arriving at Emirates Stadium will see David Ospina leave and join Fenerbache, with talks already underway according to reports.
