Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has ruled out the summer departure of in-demand winger, Raheem Sterling, according to the Daily Express.

The 20-year-old England-international has recently rejected a new ÂŁ100,000 a-week deal at Anfield, news which has seen speculation over his future rise over recent days.

Real Madrid have been keen to sign Sterling, but Brendan Rodgers dismissed that he would leave in the summer.

“He’s got two and a half years left on his contract and he is not going anywhere,” said Rodgers. “Liverpool is one of the super-powers. The owners have shown that if they don’t want to sell, they won’t sell.

“If any player ever left Raheem or any other, it would be on the terms of the club.”

“He said his ambition is to win trophies and be successful and that’s perfectly aligned with what we want to do,” said Rodgers. “This is Liverpool, one of great clubs in football world and it’s an honour for him to be playing here.

“He understands that.”
