Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has told his players to bring him home the FA Cup this season as they prepare to take on Everton in the Quarter Final at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners haven’t won any piece of silverware since the 2005 FA Cup victory against Manchester United, and despite being in a few finals since then, Wenger’s men have always fallen at the final hurdle.
This cup competition may be Arsenal’s best chance of silverware now this season after falling behind in the Premier League title race, and losing their Champions League first-leg 2-0 to Bayern Munich, and Wenger has told his players just how vital this competition is to them this year.
‘How important is it to win a trophy this season? It’s vital. That’s how important it is,’ said the Frenchman. ‘We want to win and we are in a position where we can do it. We want to do it, of course.
‘The game against Everton is vital because we had such a disappointing result at Stoke last weekend and a non-convincing performance. What we produced was not good enough, we need a great response.’
Arsenal take on Everton this lunch-time with a place at Wembley awaiting the winners for the Semi-Final.
