Former-Chelsea boss admits he would love Old Trafford hotseat

Carlo Ancelotti has stated any manager in the world would love to manage Manchester United, sparking further speculation that he could be the one taking over from Louis van Gaal.

The Dutchman is expected to leave his role at Old Trafford in 2017 once his contract expires, and it’s hotly tipped that Ancelotti will take over as manager due to his strong friendship with Sir Alex Ferguson.

Ancelotti has been out of work since the summer following his exit from Real Madrid, and when asked about possibly managing United in the future, he admitted any manager would dream of that job.

United Managerial Role

“Of course, for every manager, they would all think of managing Manchester United,” Ancelotti told the Independent.

“But I have no regrets about staying at Real because I really enjoyed Madrid. I would like to come back in a club with a good project, but, of course, one that is competitive.

“When I went to PSG, it was a club with a really good project. They were not a club with a tradition like Milan or Madrid, but they wanted to grow and are still on this path now.

“But, the Premier League is the best in the sense of atmosphere, ambience. It is also competitive, so I would like to come back, especially for the atmosphere.”

Ancelotti has revealed he’s turned down several offers since leaving the Bernabeu, but he could be away from football for longer than his expected one-year break, especially if he wants to United role.
