West Ham United centre forward Andy Carroll has lost his appeal against a three match ban for his sending off in the win against Swansea City.

The lanky centre forward was sent off for elbowing Swansea centre back Chico Flores in a controversial sending off in Saturday’s victory against the South Wales side.

The sending off itself was seen as a harsh decision by Howard Webb, with Spanish defender Chico falling to the ground in a unsavoury manner.

Chico had an altercation with manager Sam Allardyce back in October, which saw Allardyce publically laughing in the face of the defender in the reverse fixture between the two.

Carroll tweeted his reaction from his official verified account, stating that he was “DISGRACEFUL”

Hammers boss Allardyce stated….

“We will hope that the appeal will work. Hopefully we don’t lose Andy for three games.

“He’s gutted. He’s absolutely beside himself. We’ll just have to go through the process and see what happens.”

Carroll, West Ham’s record purchase, will now miss the Premier League matches against Aston Villa (a), Norwich City (h) and Southampton (h).

The striker for the away fixture against Everton on March 1.

Carroll’s ben will come as a huge blow for the Hammers, who are engulfed in a real relegation battle at the foot of the Premier League.
