The North London duo have made contact with the Real Madrid star’s agent
According to reports from Spanish newspaper Marca, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have met with Iker Casillas’ agent Carlos Cutropia, and are two of seven clubs interested.
It looks as though Arsene Wenger and Mauricio Pochettino are eyeing up alternatives to Petr Cech, if his deal falls through, and to Hugo Lloris if he leaves Spurs.
Despite Casillas, 34, having two years left on his contract it is understood he has been made available on a free transfer, as Real are reluctant to pay-up his current deal.
With the club desperate to offload Casillas, it could pave the way for David De Gea‘s move back to Spain as his replacement.
De Gea has been monitored by Madrid for the past few months and they are desperate to bring him to the Bernabeu this summer.
The Casillas deal could ignite the summer transfer window with team-mate Sergio Ramos being made a prospective target for Manchester United who would be involved in a swap.
United and Madrid are considering a swap deal involving De Gea and Ramos, but nothing as of yet has been formally agreed.
