- Napoli has set the buy out price for Cavani at £54 million but PSG has reportedly started with a bid at £43 million according to Sky Sports.
- Cavani was as effective as scoring 29 goals in 34 Serie A appearances for Napoli last season as they finished second behind title-winners Juventus.
- He also scored 3 goals in four games for the national team in the recent Confederations Cup showing his world class ability once again.
- His ability of finding the net very often attracts a lot of attention from big name clubs around Europe but President of Napoli De Laurentis has stood firm in his mission to not sell Cavani for less than the asking price.
- “If a club offers 63 million euros, then we would allow him to leave. The release clause will have been activated,” Laurentis said at a press conference last week according to Sky Sports.
- “If we receive an offer, then fine. If this doesn’t arrive, then Cavani will stay in Italy with us.”
- New boss, Rafa Benitez would love to see the 26-year-old striker staying at Napoli next season as Juventus already have signed Llorente and Tevez as reinforcements and trying to be at the same level as Juventus will be hard without their scoring machine.
- “We want Cavani to stay at Napoli,” Benitez told Corriere dello Sport according to Sky Sports.
- “We would be really happy if that’s how it works out. If he leaves, then it would be because someone has matched the release clause or comes up with an irresistible offer.
- Cavani knows how much he is loved and how valuable he is to the city and to the team.”
