Cesar Azpilicueta will be rewarded for his excellent season by being offered a new contract at Chelsea. The Spaniard has managed to keep left-back Ashley Cole out of the first team for most of the season, even though Azpilicueta is mainly a right-back.
The defender’s current deal only expires in 2017, but this new contract will see his wages upped to £70,000 a week. However, Jose Mourinho will still be on the hunt for a new left-back in summer despite this new contract offer. Southampton’s Luke Shaw is the primary target for Chelsea while Atletico Madrid’s Filipe Luis and Sevilla’s Alberto Moreno are also being monitored by the Blues.
