Cesc Fabregas’ Chelsea contract is winding down to a close following the 2018/19 season and it seems like the Spaniard is already preparing to leave.

He was brought on as a substitute in the 0-0 home draw against Southampton, which marked his 500th appearance in English football. Fabregas took to Twitter to thank the fans of both the clubs he has represented in the Premier League during his career – Arsenal and Chelsea.

The message read: “500 games in English football, the best and most competitive football in the world, what a ride it has been! A proper dream come true to reach these numbers. Another proud moment in my career. I will see you all at the Bridge on Saturday.”

The 31-year-old is no longer a regular figure in the Stamford Bridge and has yet to be offered a contract extension. Latest reports have strongly linked him to AS Monaco, the French team coached by his former teammate, Thierry Henry.

Monaco’s Sporting Director, Michael Emanelo used to hold the same position at Chelsea and has been touted as the true mastermind behind the move. Fabregas is slowly entering his veteran years as a footballer but still believes himself to be a starter.

It is unclear whether he will stick around for long as rumours of a January move heats up.
