Frank Lampard thinks Chelsea have already won the Premier League title this season, after taking a six-point lead at top of table.
The Blues legend has been blown away by Antonio Conte’s outfit this term and believes they have got far more consistency and quality than their title rivals to be crowned champions come the end of the campaign.
Lampard thinks no other team will be able to catch his old side in the race for the league title.
“As a Chelsea man it’s great to see,” he told Sky Sports News HQ.
“All credit to everybody there. The manager changed the system after a defeat to Arsenal where nobody would’ve fancied them to be anywhere near winning the league at that point and now they’re the dominant team.
“I don’t like to tempt fate but I can’t really see anyone who’s got the consistency and quality to close the gap.
“So I fancy Chelsea strongly now.”
The former England star revealed that Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal would be their main title rivals this year and also claim a place in the top four.
However, he believes the Blues will have what it takes to stick at the summit of the table.
He added: “They [Manchester City] are in a decent position at the moment and there are teams of quality of course so yeah City, Liverpool and Arsenal – those will be the group chasing them.
“But yeah Chelsea, when you take that sort of gap into Christmas, barring injuries and suspensions of [Diego] Costa and [Eden] Hazard, I think they’ll be okay.”
