Chelsea Football Club have announced the signing of former-striker Didier Drogba on a one-year deal.

The Ivorian international left Turkish side Galatasaray this Summer after his contract expired, and after holding talks with the Premier League club, he made the decision to rejoin them on a one-year deal.

Drogba, who’s last kick for Chelsea was to win them the Champions League, will most likely play for one season, and then join Jose Mourinho’s coaching team for the future.

Mourinho sees Drogba the perfect role model for new signing Diego Costa, and he is hopeful he can help aid the Spaniard’s progression and help him adapt to life in England.

Last season was marred for The Blues due to the lack of a killer striker, and Mourinho has moved quickly to change that by signing Costa and now Drogba.

On signing his contract, Drogba said: ‘It was an easy decision – I couldn’t turn down the opportunity to work with Jose again.  Everyone knows the special relationship I have with this club and it has always felt like home to me.

‘My desire to win is still the same and I look forward to the opportunity to help this team. I am excited for this next chapter of my career.’

Jose Mourinho said: ‘He’s coming because he’s one of the best strikers in Europe. I know his personality very well and I know if he comes back he’s not protected by history or what he’s done for this club previously. He is coming with the mentality to make more history.’
