Chelsea Football Club are set to open talks with defender Branislav Ivanovic over a new deal which could see him stay at Stamford Bridge until 2018.

The Serbian has been in fine form for The Blues this year at both right-back and centre-back, and Jose Mourinho and Roman Abramovich are keen to secure his long-term future by offering him a new four-year deal.

It is understood that the club will offer him a pay-rise, despite Ivanovic already being on ÂŁ120k-a-week.

Despite being 30-years-old, Chelsea are still willing to offer the Serbian international a four-year deal, which will see them break their policy as they usually only offer 12-month extensions to players over the age of 30.

The new deal will see Ivanovic earn similar amounts to club legends John Terry and Frank Lampard.
