Blues lining up £20million bid for Leicester City star
Chelsea are lining up a possible £20million bid for Leicester City midfielder Riyad Mahrez, according to reports.
The Algerian international has been a stand-out performer so far this season, alongside star-striker Jamie Vardy, and together they have helped Leicester mount a serious title challenge.
Mahrez was one of the name’s on Jose Mourinho‘s wishlist, but following his dismissal, it was speculated that they’d look elsewhere, but according to fresh reports, officials at Stamford Bridge are still interested in the 24-year-old.
Mahrez Impresses
The Foxes star has already netted 15 goals this season for Leicester, and his performance against Chelsea in December was enough to convince Roman Abramovich that he’s the real deal.
Leicester paid under £1m for Mahrez a couple of years ago, but due to his stunning rise in the Premier League, Chelsea are ready to offer around £20m for the midfielder.
Claudio Ranieri has already landed winger Demarai Gray from Birmingham City this window, speculating that he could be preparing for Mahrez’s exit, whilst Chelsea are also preparing for Eden Hazard‘s exit.
